Intergration = Harmony

During the 60’s and 70’s, the UK saw a huge rise in foreiners coming to settle here due to issues in their own countries. My parents were part of that influx during the 70’s.

Moving to a new country is never an easy transition and one that many shy away from. But my parents had no choice and did what they had to do.

Yes there was racism back then, but it was down to ignorance and having to adjust to new people and cultures. My own personal experience of racism started at school. I was one of only three asian children and we were all subjected to taunting and physical abuse during our school years.

Back then, it was part of the life – growing up in a white society where you were not really welcome was difficult but we integrated as much as we were able too and eventually, were accepted!

Life is very different know-a-days. With such a diverse, multi-cultural society, there is little room for racism. Or atleast thats what we are telling ourselves.

Integrating with the people who’s homeland you live in is the only way people will get on. My parents did it, perhaps your parents did it and they managed to work hard and build a fantastac life for us.

Where ever you are in the world, if you do not live in your home country, you must integrate with those around you.

That means living by their laws, their “ways of doing things” and most of all, do not dis-respect them.

I am ashamed to say that foriegn nationals here in the UK do not share the same principles or values that our parents shared. Just look at the news and whats been going on in Paris with the refugees. They are causing havoc and I would not be suprised if Paris throws them all out. Just search Youtube for “Paris refugee crisis” and you will see what I mean.

And as usual, its the innocent ones that will suffer. Those who are sincerely in need of help.

We all managed to integrate in to the UK system and work hard for what we have. What makes this new generation think they are different?

Do you like in the UK and were once and forienger? What do you think of todays issues with integration? Please let me know your thought below.
